A step-by-step guide to setting up the ProDuke source port and configuring it to play multiplayer through Netplayseeker.

Prerequisites

Step-by-Step Setup

Download ProDuke

Download the latest release of ProDuke directly from the official website.

https://produke.com.br/ ↗

Extract the Engine

Unzip the ProDuke download into a folder on your PC. For example: C:\Games\ProDuke\.

Inside, you should see the executable file produke.exe.

Copy Your Game Files

Open your original Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition installation folder and locate the following two files:

  • DUKE3D.GRP
  • DUKE.RTS

Copy both of these files and paste them directly into your ProDuke folder (next to produke.exe).

Configure Netplayseeker

Open Netplayseeker and click the Settings (⚙) button in the top right.

1. Executable: Under the Executables section, find the ProDuke field. Click Browse and select your produke.exe.

2. Usermaps: Under the Usermaps Folders section, find the Duke Nukem 3D field. Click Browse and select a folder where you keep your custom Duke .map files (e.g., C:\Games\ProDuke\Maps\). Setting this up ensures that if you host a room with a custom map, Netplayseeker can upload it and sync it to your guests automatically.

Click Save Settings.

Create a Room

Click Create Room in the lobby. Select ProDuke from the Source Port dropdown.

Choose your connection type (Direct or Relay). If you are unsure, let it fall back to Relay so guests don't need to port-forward. Set the Max Players (up to 16) and click Create.

Configure ProDuke Options

Once inside the room, the host can configure a massive array of settings:

  • Game Type: Choose from Dukematch, COOP, Team Dukematch, CTF, Survival, LMS, and more.
  • NetFlags Presets: Pick Classic, Alternative, Modern, or Hardcore. You can also manually toggle specific NetFlags.
  • Bots: Enable AI bots and set a count. Netplayseeker automatically passes /q0 if bots are off to prevent phantom bots.
  • Player Choices: Everyone in the room can pick their own color and team (if the game mode supports teams). These sync automatically.

Get Ready and Launch

Guests click Ready. Once all guests are ready, the host clicks Launch Game. Netplayseeker will generate the correct command lines and netlist, inject the settings, and boot ProDuke for everyone simultaneously.

Troubleshooting

Game fails to launch

Double-check that DUKE3D.GRP and DUKE.RTS are in the exact same folder as produke.exe. If Netplayseeker says "executable not found," go back to Settings and re-select the path.

Why does my command line say /q0?

/q0 tells ProDuke to spawn zero bots. Netplayseeker always passes this flag when bots are disabled in the UI so that ProDuke doesn't accidentally spawn its default bots and ruin the match.

Does ProDuke support IPv6?

Yes. ProDuke's netlist natively supports IPv6. Netplayseeker binds the socket in dual-stack mode ([::]) to accept both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. However, please note that the current peer discovery system (finding your friends' public IPs) still primarily uses IPv4, so cross-internet sessions will default to IPv4 for now.
